My Trip To Europe

Justin Vu 9/15/97

When I heard that we were going to Europe, I was so exited I could pack as fast as a hyper person. When my family and me got to the airport, and into the plane called Swissair lines.

When we got off ground, the stewardess turned on movies in all sorts of languages. We bought swiss army knives. The stewardesses gave us souvenir cups. We had two meals as we watched the movies on the flight to Europe.

My cousins, brothers and grand parents

When we reached Switzerland, I had a chance to know my cousins. Then it was dinner time, we had steak, rice, and chocolate pudding with milk. After dinner, I began to feel sick and had to go to the bath room every five minutes!

Train Cabin

When the week past, we were going to Rome by train. In the train, we began to sleep. The cabin was so full, that there was no room to move.

I woke up at 7:30am, when I noticed everyone was still asleep, I decided I would explore around for myself until everyone was awake.

Pope Bless

By the time my family reached Rome, we went to Saint Peter’s square, all the people there were blessed by Pope John Paul II from his balcony.

St. Peter Basilica Ceiling We visited Saint Peter’s Basilica for the rest of the day. St. Peter Basilica Ceiling
I am sleepy... zzzzzz That evening we had diner at a Chinese restaurant. I was so tired after that, I felt asleep on my little brother’s stroller.

We visited Saint Paul’s Basilica the next morning. In the afternoon, we went to see the Catacombe of San Callisto.

Glass (Crystal) Makers We boarded the train again that night for Venice. We arrived to Venice the next morning. The first thing we did was looking for a hotel. We use many boat rides to get around Venice. We visited the glass shop. Venice Canal
St. Marcos Square - Venice We went to San Marcos square, there were a lot of pigeons. I was so thrilled that I can feed them cracker crumbs.

We also bought some corn to feed them. We took another ferry to Lido beach.  We went to a nice restaurant by a Venice canal for dinner.

When we came back to the hotel, we went to sleep.  The next morning, I told my dad that I wish we could stay here for another day.  The pigeons made me so happy.  We traveled back to Switzerland later that day.
Big Family!!!

That weekend, we celebrated my grand parents’ golden anniversary. It was a nice ceremony. We had a nice reception after the mass. I was so excited to see all my cousins and the rest of my family there.

Entrance to LourdesWe visited Lourdes in France the next week. I took a dip in the Holy water spring there.

We had a nice spaghetti lunch there. We visited the birth place of Saint Bernadette. We also saw the house that she lived in. It is just a one room house. It is so small, there were only two beds, one sink. They used rain water as the water source.

We returned to Switzerland on a nice train with bunk beds. It was in the first class section. My grand father and my uncle were there waiting for us at the train station.

We came back to Anchorage later in the week. Everyone cheered as we landed in Anchorage after a safe and long trip home.
